Salary: $15.00 hourly for 40 hours per week

Qualifications: 

- Ability to communicate orally in English is required; 

- Completion of college, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a relevant program of 1 year to 2 years or equivalent experience is required; 

- 2 years to less than 3 years of experience as a hairstylist is required; 

- Ontario Hairstylist Licence is required; 

- Experience in permanents including Japanese hair straightening and digital permanent is an asset.

Job Description

Job duties:

- Analyze clients' hair and scalp condition and advise on care and treatment at home;

- Provide clients with consultation for their hair styles and hair colours;

- Suggest and determine hair styles and hair colours based on client's physical features, preferences and their hair/scalp conditions;

- Cut, trim and taper hair with scissors and trimmers according to client's instructions or preferences;

- Prepare hair coloring material according to client's instructions or preferences;

- Apply and provide hair colouring such as bleach, dyes/tints, frosting, streaking/highlights and balayage/ombré;

- Apply or provide hair styling such as permanents including Japanese hair straightening and digital permanent, iron waving/curling, blow drying, hair braiding, extensions, twisting, locking, relaxing, spiking, pin curls, roller setting and updo;

- Shampoo clients' hair;

- Provide hair treatment or head massage;

- Apply hair extensions according to client's instructions or preferences;

- Book appointments and perform receptionist duties;

- Maintain and order supplies as necessary; and

- Teach or train newly hired staff in work procedures or hairstyling techniques as necessary.
