Qualifications: 

- Ability to communicate orally in English is required

- College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years or equivalent experience is required

- 2 year to less than 3 years of work experience as a baker is required

- Having knowledge of Japanese traditional ingredients such as yuzu (Japanese lime), matcha (green tea), kuro-goma (black sesame), and wasabi (Japanese horseradish) and/or experience in baking production using these ingredients is an asset

Job Description

Job duties:

- Prepare dough for pies, bread, rolls and sweet goods, batters for muffins, cookies and cakes and icings and frostings according to recipes or special customer orders;

- Prepare dough for macarons using Japanese traditional ingredients;

- Prepare batters for cakes such as Green Tea Red Bean Sesame, Strawberry Yuzu, Chocolate Earl Grey or Pistachio Blackcurrant;

- Bake mixed dough and batters;

- Frost and decorate cakes and baked goods;

- Operate machinery;

- Prepare special orders;

- Prepare pastries for customers with food allergies or intolerances;

- Inspect kitchen and food service areas;

- Draw up production schedules;

- Schedule staff;

- Ensure that the quality of products meets Ruelo Patisserie's standards;

- Order, organize and maintain inventory of materials, equipment and supplies;

- Train and supervise baking personnel and kitchen staff in preparation, cooking and handling of food;

- Oversee sales and merchandising of baked goods;

- Hire and dismiss staff
