Job Description:
Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools
Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials
Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring and erect walls and roof systems
Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings and hardware
Maintain, repair and renovate residences and wooden structures in mills, mines, hospitals, industrial plants and other establishments
Prepare tenders and quotations
Schedule and co-ordinate work on sites
Survey building locations and levels
Instruct apprentices
Estimate costs and materials
Requirements:
-Education:
Completion of high school.
-Experience:
A minimum of three
years of experience as carpenter is required. If the candidate does not have at
least 3 years of experience a post-secondary certificate is required.
Salary: $25.00 - $26.00 Hourly, 45 Hours per week.
Important Information: This position will require working 45 hours per week in the
summer, a minimum of 30 hours of work per week is guaranteed during the winter
time. Work day starts at 7.30 AM and finishes at 5.30 PM (1 hour of unpaid lunch) in the summer
from Monday to Friday. In the winter, Work day varies depending on temperature.
