Job Description

Job Description:

·         Practice and rehearse dance routines under direction or instruction to achieve desired interpretation and presentation

·         Train and exercise to maintain the required levels of ability and fitness

·         Teach dance technique and artistic interpretation to amateur and professional individuals and groups

·         Teach recreational dancing lessons such as ballroom dancing

·         Prepare dance students for specific auditions and performances

·         Fast-paced environment, Work under pressure, Physically demanding, Attention to detail

·         Classical ballet, Jazz, Modern ballet, Tap, Lyrical, Hip-Hop, Acro, Musical Theatre, Fitness Classes

·         Teaching from a dance syllabus (training/mentorship is provided)

·         Organizing class plans and keeping records of student development

·         Uploading music, lessons and video to different studio software platforms

·         Creating unique and interesting choreography that is both age and developmentally appropriate for recitals and competition

·         Cutting and editing music files

·         Selecting costumes for group and solo/duets

·         Tracking class attendance

·         Handing out messages and marketing material to students and parents

·         Communicate with parents and students regarding studio events and policies

·         Posting class photos/videos to the studio social media sites

·         Attending studio functions and monthly meetings

·         Attending quarterly trainings and planning sessions

·         Work in a fast paced environment and enjoys working under pressure

Requirements:

- Education:

-Graduated from a private dance school or academy

-Experience

-2 years as dance instructor, teaching and handling groups of multiple ages.
-Has an understanding of basic anatomy and muscle function
-Detail oriented and able to meet deadlines

-Certification through an organization such as the Royal Academy of Dance, Ceccheti Society, Vagavona, CDTA, ADAPT, Acrobatic Arts, Acrobatique is a definite asset. As well any fitness training or certifications such as Pilates or Yoga

-Ability to teach and design fitness classes is a definite asset
 

Salary:  $34.29 - $36.29 per hour, 30 – 35 Hours per week

Important information:

Seasonal position: September 1st 2018 thru to May 31, 2019 for a duration of nine months, starting again the following September.

Work Schedule: Evenings 4:00PM-9:30PM. Mon-Fri, Saturdays 9:00AM-3:00PM. These hours will be depending on scheduling in the fall. The teacher will work during these days and times but not necessarily all of these hours. Some daytime hours 9am-12pm
