Norbest Farms grows seed potatoes in the rich soil of the North Saskatchewan River Valley located in Northern Alberta, Canada. This is a family business that was established in the 1950s.

The company has an immediate opening for 1 (one) Farm Machinery Operator.

The candidate’s duties include: 

• Perform activities like drive tractors, operate machinery, spray fields, inspect sprinklers, etc.

• Fertilize using machinery and perform other duties related to agriculture stream.

• Plant, cultivate, harvest crops using equipment and machinery.

• Operate other farm machinery and equipment.

• Load products into trucks and/or drive trucks to storage.

• Perform light maintenance and repairs on implements, equipment, and tractors.

• Perform general labor on the farm such as ground maintenance and cleaning equipment.

• Communicate with farm supervisors, managers, and owners regarding crop progress and issues that may arise.

• Perform other general farm duties as needed.

Job Description

Requirements:

• No specific education or training requirements, training will be provided on work.

• Basic farm knowledge, some background in operating machinery will be an asset.

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Fast-paced environment, Work under pressure, Machinery operations, Repetitive tasks, Handling heavy loads, physically demanding, hand-eye co-ordination, sitting.

Work sites: Year round work, Outdoors, wet/damp/rain, hot/cold.

Minimum Education: Secondary School.

Compensation: $20.00/hour for 30-60 hours/week (+ 4% Vacation pay); No benefits; Staff accommodation available.
