Qualifications:

- Ability to communicate orally and in writing in English is required

- Completion of secondary (high) school is required

- 2 years to less than 3 years of work experience as a cook or a chef in an established restaurant is required

- Experience of working in a Japanese restaurant and/or knowledge on Japanese cuisine is an asset

Job Description


Job duties:

- Prepare, make and present Aburi Oshi Sushi, Edoprime Nigiri, Rolls, and Sashimi;

- Prepare, cook, and present cold and hot appetizers and side dishes on the menu on a regular basis;

- Prepare dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerances upon request;

- Clean and organize kitchen and work areas;

- Inspect work areas for safety or health hazards;

- Monitor quality and production levels of the dishes prepared by kitchen helpers and cooks;

- Plan and create new menus, determine size of food portions, estimate food, requirements and costs, and monitor and order supplies;

- Maintain records of food costs, consumption and inventory, and place orders as necessary;

- Train kitchen helpers and cooks in preparation, cooking and handling of food;

- Supervise and instruct kitchen helpers and cooks in preparation, cooking, garnishing and presentation of food
