Qualifications
- Ability to communicate orally and in writing in English is required;
- Completion of secondary (high) school is required;
- 2 years to less than 3 years of work experience as a cook in an established restaurant is required;
- Work experience in cooking Japanese cuisine is an asset
Job duties
- Prepare, cook, and present hot and cold starters such as Japanese fusion fries and salads;
- Prepare, cook, and present Japanese fusion pasta dishes using Japanese traditional ingredients and foods such as Miso, Shiso (perilla leaf), and soy sauce;
- Prepare and present Japanese fusion desserts;
- Suggest/plan new menus, determine size of food portions, estimate food requirements and costs, and monitor and order supplies, together with other kitchen staff;
- Maintain inventory and records of food, supplies and equipment, and order them when needed;
- Clean and inspect kitchen and work areas;
- Teach/train newly hired kitchen staff in preparation, cooking, handling of food, and safety/sanitation procedures when needed.
