Duties and Responsibilities:
• Existing building analysis and documentation.
• Schematic architectural design and design development.
• Building code research and analysis.
• Planning and zoning research and compliance proposals.
• Working with Conservation and Heritage Authorities to receive permits and agreements.
• Preparing application to Planning Departments for Minor Variances, Rezoning, Land Severance, and Site Plan Agreements.
• Preparing manual and CAD (computer-assisted design) drawings, specifications, cost estimates and listings of quantities of material from conceptual drawings and instructions.
• Assisting with material selection, specifications, and project estimates.
• Construct project 3D rendering using computer app such as Lumion, Revit, and Adobe Photoshop.
• Preparing presentation drawings for client review.
• Assist the architect with contract and construction administration during the construction phase of building during the project phase.
• Complete project reviews and project review reports.

Job Description
Qualifications:
• Passionate about architectural design and the cultural history of architecture.
• Aspire to become an architectural designer.
• Relevant entry-level work experience in the architectural design industry or related field.
• General understanding of architectural design principles, aesthetics and space planning standards for residential and commercial projects.
• General understanding of Canadian wood-frame house construction standards.
• General understanding and a willingness to have a detailed understanding of the Ontario Building Code and the Supplement to the Ontario Building Code.
• Tracking toward completion of the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing standard Ontario Building Code exams.
• Willingness to complete Passive House Canada course and exams.
• Willingness to attend ongoing professional development courses in Timber design, concrete formwork (ICF), cold-form steel connections, developments in new materials and methods.
• General understanding of structural and mechanical design principles.
• Expert skills in CAD software with a minimum the following software: AutoCAD, Sketchup, Revit, and Lumion
• Moderate skills in BIM software such as Revit, AECOsim, Open Buildings, etc.
• Basic skills in rendering software such as 3D Max, Sketchup, VRAY, etc.
• Expert skills in software such as MS Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, ProjectWise, Microsoft Teams, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.
• Tracking toward membership in the Ontario Association of Applied Architectural Sciences and completion of the OAAAS Program.
