Job Description
Core cooking duties
• Prepare and cook full breakfast and lunch plates such as egg breakfasts, pancakes, waffles, French toast, hashes, burgers, sandwiches, wraps and salads according to the restaurant’s recipes and presentation standards.
• Cook individual à la carte items (eggs, meats, potatoes, batters, sauces and toppings) to order while managing multiple tickets during busy brunch and lunch service.
• Prepare special orders and modified meals for guests with dietary needs or allergies, following house guidelines on gluten friendly, vegetarian and lighter menu options.
Menu execution and preparation
• Set up and stock all line stations with prepped ingredients such as batters, breakfast meats, home fries, vegetables, sauces, garnishes and baked items before service.
• Follow portion sizes and plating specifications for signature items like premium stacks, hashes, eggs Benedict, chicken dishes and kids’ meals to ensure consistency and food cost control.
• Assist in planning and updating daily features or seasonal specials by providing input on prep requirements, portioning and execution on the line.
Kitchen operations and supervision
• Coordinate timing of dishes on the grill, flat top, fryer and oven to ensure that complete meals for each table are ready and served hot together.
• Guide and oversee kitchen helpers or junior staff in basic tasks such as washing, chopping, portioning, stocking and simple cooking, and check their work for quality and speed.
• Help organize workflows on the line, communicate clearly with servers and expeditors, and support smooth kitchen operations during peak periods.
Inventory, records and cleanliness
• Monitor stock levels of key items (eggs, dairy, meats, produce, dry goods, sauces and disposables), record usage and advise the supervisor or owner when orders are needed.
• Rotate and label food, check temperatures and quality of stored products, and report any spoilage or equipment issues promptly.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area by regularly wiping surfaces, handling food according to public health and in house food safety standards and assisting with closing and cleaning duties as required.
Additional responsibilities
• Participate in menu and recipe discussions, including suggesting improvements to preparation methods, portion sizes and garnishes while respecting the brand’s standards.
• Support training of new kitchen staff on station setup, recipes, cooking methods and safety procedures, and model professional behaviour in a fast paced team environment.
• May assist with setting up self serve or limited buffet style offerings for group events or catering orders, as directed by management.
Work Experience: 1 to less than 7 months, Proper Training will be provided at the location as per restaurant standards.
